An employee of Ringgold School District is under investigation over accusations the employee may have had inappropriate contact with a high school student, a letter the district superintendent posted online Wednesday indicated.

The district is cooperating with authorities in the case and has removed the employee from school property, Ringgold Superintendent Karen Polkabla stated in the letter posted on the school district’s website.

“As this is a personnel matter, it is the school district’s policy not to make any comments regarding the details of this situation,” Polkabla stated in the letter.

“However, I want to assure the public and the parents of our students that the Ringgold School District takes such allegations very seriously,” she stated.

Polkabla said she had nothing else to say beyond what is stated in her letter following a school board meeting Wednesday night. The board met behind closed doors twice to discuss personnel, but directors did not take any disciplinary actions that night against any employees.

“Until this matter is resolved, the employee in question will not have any contact with students in the Ringgold School District while they are on school district property,” Polkabla further stated in the letter.
