Bentworth School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2015-16 school year March 3-5 by appointment. Children registering for kindergarten must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1. Children registering for first grade must be 6 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2015. Children who attend kindergarten at Bentworth do not need to register for first grade.

Parents must provide the following documents at registration: birth certificate, immunization records and two documents to prove residency. Copies are acceptable. Residency documentation includes a driver’s license, auto registration, utility bills, tax statements, voter registration and evidence of receiving checks from wages, public assistance or Social Security.

Deadline to make an appointment for the child and parent or guardian is Feb. 25 by calling 724-239-3606, ext. 3265 or 3393. Registration, testing and health information will take about 30 minutes. Visit www.Bentworth.org to print and complete the required paperwork.

McGuffey School District will hold kindergarten registration for the 2015-16 school year for children who are 5 years old before Sept. 1 as follows:

• Joe Walker Elementary School – April 8. Appointments are required. Call 724-222-3061.

• Claysville Elementary School – April 9 and 10. Appointments are required. Call 724-663-7772.

Various screenings will be conducted, and parents must complete all of the necessary documents. School is scheduled to begin in August. At that time, parents and children will meet the teachers, building principals and other school personnel; tour the building; and ride the school bus. Children who are 6 years old by Sept. 1 are eligible to enter first grade. First-grade registration for new students is by appointment, which can be made by calling the respective schools.
