NEW WILMINGTON – Cameron Pozsgai scored 20 points, making all seven of his shots from the field, as Westminster defeated Washington & Jefferson College, 79-63, in a first-round Presidents’ Athletic Conference men’s basketball playoff game Monday night.

The Presidents, who finish their season at 2-24, opened the game shooting well early and grabbed a 27-18 lead with just under six minutes remaining in the first half.

But Westminster (7-19), which advances to the quarterfinals to face top-seeded Saint Vincent (19-7), finished the half on a 19-6 run to take a 37-33 halftime lead.

The Presidents twice cut the lead to two points early in the second half, but Westminster slowly pulled away, never allowing W&J to get the deficit under five.

Matt Getsy had 17 points, Paul Carswell 16 and Jason Pilarski 12 for Westminster.

Brian Lindquist led the Presidents with 16 points, Mike Resnik 15 and Doug Johnson 12 in the losing effort. Mitch Locher had a game-high nine rebounds for W&J.
