A second person was arrested on drug charges by Washington police stemming from a standoff last Friday at a home in the city’s West End.
Iesha Ena Hackett, 37, of 690 Addison St., Washington, was taken into custody Wednesday on charges of possession with intent to deliver heroin and possession of Oxycontin.
City police were taking juveniles who were accused of stealing items from a nearby store back to the house at 690 Addison when they said they spotted Russell Porter, 19, stick his head out of a window while holding a 9 mm handgun. Porter was ordered to get back inside, and officers from the city, neighboring departments and state police surrounded the house. Five people, including Porter and Hackett, were removed from the house less than five minutes later.
City police obtained a search warrant and said they found a 9 mm handgun that had been reported stolen last October in California, as well as 783 stamp bags of suspected heroin. They said the stamp bags, packaged for sale, were found in Hackett’s bedroom. Police said they also found one Oxycontin pill in her bedroom.
Porter was arrested Friday by city police on charges of possession with intent to deliver heroin, receiving stolen property and person not to possess a firearm. Police said he was an adjudicated delinquent on a charge that would make him ineligible to possess a gun.
Hackett was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. She is scheduled for an April 20 preliminary hearing before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Porter, who is free after posting $25,000 bond, faces an April 15 hearing on his charges before Redlinger.
