A Clarksville woman was arraigned Tuesday on drug charges stemming from a traffic stop last month by East Bethlehem Township police.

Thelma Marie Friday, 43, of 16 Ridge St., faces four counts of possession and possession with intent to deliver crack and seven counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police and members of the Washington County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force were conducting surveillance in an area known for high drug activity March 11.

A task force notified police a small car had left the area. The car went down Sandy Plains Road before turning onto Polly Street. As the vehicle passed police, who were positioned in the area, an officer noticed the car had a cracked windshield and missing right mirror. Police attempted a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as Friday, continued into Greene County before stopping in a lot of a convenience store.

Police determined that Friday was wanted on a bench warrant in Greene County. Friday was taken into custody. Three bags of suspected crack were tucked in her bra. She also had six empty stamp bags under her left shoe.

Friday was initially placed in Washington County jail on the out-of-county bench warrant.

She was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Kanalis and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is set for May 4 before Kanalis.
