Softball: Trinity has no problem with Carrick

Delaney Elling tripled and drove in two runs to lead Trinity to a 10-0 five-inning win over Carrick in a non-section game.

Olivia Gray and Hali Justice each had a double for the Hillers (6-1) and Emily Smith went 2-for-2 with two RBI. Addison Barr allowed one hit and struck out six.

• Belle Vernon scored eight runs in the fifth inning to grabe a 13-3 six-inning win over Waynesburg in a non-section game.

Bailey Parshall struck out 13 and had a double for BV (5-2). Emily Frederick had three hits and three RBI.

Gabby Rose had an RBI-double for Waynesburg (3-5).

• An 11-run first inning powered Avella to a 22-4 four-inning non-section victory over Cornell.

Jade Georgetti had a triple and drove in three for Avella (2-3). Sammie Dunkle struck out six.

Cornell, which walked 13 batters, fell to 1-3.

• Monessen scored 11 runs in the second inning on the way to a 12-1 win over California in Section 2-A.

The Greyhounds moved to 1-2 in the section and 2-2 overall. Dana Vatakis struck out seven and did not walk a batter.

Rachel Wilkinson, Kristina Luko, Gabby Mariscotti and Liz Wohar had hits for California (1-2, 1-6).
