Red & Black student newspaper, WNJR radio station and W&J theater. Adams also is a 2015 recipient of the Scholar in Communication Arts Award, the Jennifer Lynn Oliver Prize in Theatre, the Robert Harbison Bible Prize and the Coblentz-Silliman Leadership Prize. She is a graduate of Peters Township High School.

Paige T. Alderson of Hickory has been selected for induction into Phi Beta Kappa at Washington & Jefferson College, where she is a senior majoring in international studies. Alderson heads the W&J Model United Nations delegation, is secretary of the Pi Sigma Alpha Society and is a 2015 recipient of the James Gillespie Blaine Prize in political science. She graduated from Fort Cherry High School.

Bethany College recently recognized several area students for outstanding scholarship and other contributions to the college during its annual Honors Day Convocation. They are:

• Maci L. Caster of Washington, an education major who received the Harold R. and Evelyn N. Watkins Pre-Ministerial Award, which recognizes a junior or senior who has demonstrated outstanding Christian leadership and service. Her parents are William and Shellie Caster.

• Whitney G. Lewicki of Eighty Four, a commujnications and media arts major who received the E.E. Roberts Distinguished Prize in campus journalism. It is presented to a student who excels in work with one of the student media, in academic work in the communications and media arts program or both. Lewicki’s parents are Robert Lewicki and Rachel Sweet.

• Kassandra A. Reed of Waynesburg, a chemistry major who received the Leonora Balla Cayard Prize, which is awarded to an outstanding German student in honor of the former German professor and chairwoman of the Department of Foreign Languages. Reed’s parents are Mark Reed and Cindy Russell.

• Sydney E. Stennett of Graysville, a social work major who received the Shirley Morris Memorial Award, which is given to outstanding students in the field of modern languages. Stennett’s mother is Leslie Skidmore.
