A driver of a dump truck received injuries to his arm and face Monday afternoon after his side mirror was struck by a tow truck on Valley Brook Road in Peters Township. The driver of the tow truck did not stop.
Peters Township police Capt. Michael Yanchak said the driver of the dump truck, Justin Klimchak, 42, of Springdale Road, Venetia, was eastbound on Valley Brook Road, near Maplewood Drive, shortly before 4 p.m. Monday when he saw a dark-colored, newer-model tow truck coming in the opposite direction that was partially in his lane. Klimchak told police he swerved to his right in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the tow truck also moved to the right and struck the driver’s mirror of his vehicle. The impact caused the mirror to break, sending glass shards through Klimchak’s open window and cutting his face and arms.
Yanchak said Valley Brook Road is heavily traveled during weekday afternoons. He is asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident to contact the police department at 724-942-5030.
