Mary Ann Swanik, 87, formerly of Ellwood City, passed away Friday, January 4, 2013, at Edison Manor in New Castle.

She was born January 12, 1925, in Arden, a daughter of the late Richard and Anna Casey.

Her husband, Stephen R. Swanik, passed away November 1, 1982.

Mrs. Swanik worked as a clerk at J.C. Penney in Ellwood City for more than 25 years.

She was a member of Calvin United Presbyterian Church and the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary in New Castle. She and her husband visited VA hospitals in this area for many years.

Mrs. Swanik was a graduate of Trinity High School in Washington.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Nancy Swanik of Pahrump, Nev.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, deceased are a son, Jeffrey J. Swanik; two brothers, Harry and Edward Schmidt; and a sister, Cathryne Casey.

Private interment will be in Slippery Rock Church Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to Joseph A. Tomon Jr. Funeral Home & Crematory. The family requests viewing the obituary and signing the guest book at www.tomonfuneralhome.com.
