Several injured, one killed in head-on crash in Pittsburgh

Three Washington County residents were involved in a fatal, head-on crash in Pittsburgh Wednesday.
Richard O. Giles Jr., 20, of Braddock, was pulled over by state police for a traffic violation in a construction zone early Wednesday along the Parkway East inbound. He had three passengers in his vehicle and a strong odor of marijuana was detected, according to a news release. During the traffic stop, Giles fled the scene.
He exited the Parkway at the Oakland exit at Bates Street, and failed to navigate a curve. The car Giles was driving struck a sport utility vehicle driven by Richard I. McIntyre, of Claysville, head-on. Giles died from his injuries.
The passenger’s in Giles’ vehicle; Jahleel A. Kimbo, 21, of Washington, Aundra C. Riggans, 18, of Forest Park, Ga., and Shrema J. Bedillion, 19, of Washington, were injured and taken to area hospitals.
Two of the occupants of the vehicle that fled had guns in their possession. A third occupant was wanted on a warrant. The investigation is continuing.
McIntyre was also injured and taken to an area hospital.
