Arrows shot: Lisa McComas of Euclid Avenue, Canonsburg, told borough police Wednesday that she was almost struck by an arrow while visiting a neighbor on Giffin Avenue. She told police she heard a noise and then saw the arrow. A second arrow was found in her neighbor’s yard. Two boys were seen shooting arrows from another yard on Giffin. The boys were gone when police arrived.
Fire investigation: A state police fire marshal said the cause of a fire that damaged a kitchen Saturday at the home of Deborah Smiley, 824 Ridge Road, Centerville, was undetermined. Anyone with information is asked to call the fire marshal’s office at 724-223-5200.
One hurt: Margaret Six, 55, of 80 Buck Run Road, Claysville, was slightly injured Wednesday afternoon when the vehicle she was driving was involved in a three-vehicle chain reaction crash on Pike Street near First Street, Meadow Lands, Chartiers police said. The other drivers were identified as Cheyenne A. Stamps, 17, of 352 E. Pike St., Houston, and Katie Painter, 24, of 128 Painter Lane, Avella.
Checks stolen: Frank Novotny, of 214 S. Shady Ave., Chartiers, told township police Wednesday three of his checks were stolen and cashed for $1,097. Charges are pending against a suspect.
Warrant arrest: Eric J. Marshman, 37, of Leyda Avenue, Charleroi, was arraigned Wednesday on a warrant stemming from a July 23, 2011, traffic stop by state police on Route 917 in Ellsworth. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and failure to stay in his lane. His blood-alcohol content was more than double the 0.08 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed, police said. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
Loitering, theft arrests: Anthony Scott Adams, 37, of Richlands, Va., was arrested early Thursday by North Strabane police after he allegedly was going through vehicles parked in the Meadowbrook plan. Police said they found him with almost $100 and a flashlight. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of loitering and prowling at night, theft and theft from a motor vehicle. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
Home burglary: Someone entered a house in the 100 block of Alyson Drive, McMurray, Aug. 12, and took $60 in cash from a wallet in the kitchen. The homeowner’s wife reported missing $44 in cash from her purse and their son said he was missing $40 from his wallet. The incident remains under investigation.
Credit card used: Jonelle Cohen of 940 E. Maiden St. told Washington police Wednesday information from her credit card was used to make a $123 purchase in the state of California.
Copper stolen: Nick Julous of Washington told Washington police Wednesday 35 feet of copper pipe was stolen from the basement of rental property he owns in the 100 block of Wellington Avenue. He found the front door unlocked.
