The Greene County Sheriff’s Office received a grant from the U.S. Justice Department’s Bureau of Justice Assistance to purchase bulletproof vests.

The grant for $4,301 this year will be used to purchase multiple vests for deputies.

“I’m thrilled because this helps us keep our guys safe while easing the financial burden on the county and taxpayers.” Sheriff Brian Tennant said.

The sheriff’s office received a similar grant of $3,695 last year.
