Boys soccer: PT, Central Catholic play to stalemate

Peters Township battled Pittsburgh Central Catholic to a 0-0 tie in two overtimes Saturday night in a non-section match. Justin Gamble stopped 11 shots for the Indians (1-0-1). Oscar Marroquin had four stops for Central Catholic (0-0-1).
• Charleroi scored two goals during an abbreviated second half and defeated visiting Chartiers-Houston 2-0 in a weather-shortened match Saturday.
Following scoreless first half, Michael Shipe and Kevin Deans scored goals for Charleroi. In the second half, lightning delayed the match with 32 minutes remaining. The teams returned to the field and 20 minutes was put on the clock. After nine minutes were played, the game was stopped again because of bad weather and ended at that point.
• Nick Sodini scored three goals to help Canon-McMillan rout McGuffey, 9-0, in a non-section match.
Luke Maher had two goals and Alex Ablak, Jonah Moore, Ryan Burke, and Brandon Byer each had one for the Big Macs (2-0).
Earlier in the day, Maher, Sodini and Noah French scored two goals apiece in C-M’s 7-1 victory over Ringgold. Rob Lawrence added another goal.
