Action: The board entered into agreements totaling $272,447 with three agencies to provide emergency shelter to the homeless through June 30, 2017, using a grant through the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development. Connect Inc. will receive $62,660 for emergency shelter services and $60,557 for transitional housing; Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern PA will receive $15,000 for transitional housing and $40,000 for emergency shelter services; and Community Action Southwest will get $94,230 for emergency shelter services.
At the request of the Washington County Court Administrator Patrick Grimm, the board approved an agreement with Blue Devil Cable of Toronto, Ohio, to provide District Judge Gary Havelka with Internet service at the rate of $59 per month plus a $35 installation fee. Randy Vankirk, Washington County purchasing director, said the quality of transmission was lacking during video arraignments with the previous Internet provider.
Jeff Yates, public safety director, received ratification from the commissioners for a computer-aided design system from Intergraph Corp. through Sept. 30, 2016, at a cost of $206,684, $73,184 of which will be paid from the wireless communication fund with the remainder from the 911 budget.
