WAYNESBURG – Several criminal defendants were admitted to the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program Tuesday by Greene County Court.

Those accepted into the program must serve at least one year’s probation and pay all fines and costs.

Defendants who enter the program charged with driving under the influence of alcohol also may have their driving privileges suspended and be required to refrain from the use or possession of alcohol.

Those who successfully complete the program can petition the court to have their criminal records expunged.

Entered into the program were:

Jared Fuller, 21, of 188 Pigeon Run Road, New Freeport, charged with criminal trespass and criminal mischief; Fuller was arrested after he admitted breaking down the door of an apartment in Waynesburg. Fuller told police he went to the residence of James Roach, 440 N. Richhill St., on April 20 to collect money Roach owed him. Roach was not home at the time. A neighbor identified Fuller as the person who broke down the door. Fuller did not take anything from the apartment.

Steven William Turner, 18, of 312 Pitcock Run Road, Waynesburg, charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, harassment with physical contact and public drunkenness; Turner was arrested June 23 after an altercation with Waynesburg Borough Police. Police were investigating an argument at West Greene Street and Blackberry Alley between Turner and his girlfriend, Cary Ann Loughman, when they smelled alcohol. They were attempting to have Turner sign documents when he lunged at an officer, pushing him against a patrol car. Officers then took Turner to the ground where he struggled with them before being restrained and placed under arrest.

Stephanie Ann Cox, 28, of 514 E. George St., Carmichaels, charged with DUI and two summary traffic violations; Cox was involved in a one-vehicle accident near 286 Crucible Road in Cumberland Township on Aug. 1. Police said Cox’s vehicle was blocking both lanes of traffic. Cox told them she was texting while on her way to work at the Carmichaels Citizens Club in Crucible. Cox was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. Her blood-alcohol content was 0.179 percent. A toxicology report showed opiates and benzodiazepine in her system as well as alcohol. She received a 60-day license suspension.

Matthew Richard Koch, 32, of 722 Leonard St., Apt. 3B, Brooklyn, N.Y., charged with DUI, DUI incapable of safe driving and four summary traffic violations; Koch was pulled over June 29 after state police saw him driving erratically on I-79 in Gray Township. He had a BAC of 0.198 percent. Koch received a 60-day license suspension.

James L. Haring, 35, of 60 Short St., Mather, charged with DUI and a summary violation; Haring was arrested after becoming involved in a rear-end collision with Nicole Lindsey on Pine St. in Jefferson. Lindsey told police she was stopped when she saw Haring driving toward her. Haring said he did not see her car. His BAC was 0.118 percent. He received a 60-day license suspension.

Melissa L. Taylor, 48, of 357 Washington Road, Waynesburg, charged with DUI and DUI incapable of safe driving. Police pulled Taylor over in a gravel lot along Washington Road on Aug. 12. They were acting on an anonymous tip that Taylor was transporting a person who may have been involved in a domestic dispute earlier that day. Police said they found the person of interest, Star Lowery, hiding under a blanket in the backseat of Taylor’s truck. When they spoke with Taylor, police said she smelled of alcohol and had slow and slurred speech. Her BAC was 0.119 percent. She received a 30-day license suspension.
