Police beat Jan. 26
DUI alleged in crash: Tony Morales, 26, of Pittsburgh, was charged by McDonald police with driving under the influence of alcohol and careless driving following a crash early Sunday at the rear of 22 Dinsmore Ave., Burgettstown. Police said Morales was driving around looking for a friend when his pickup truck slid off the road and went down an embankment. Police said Morales refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
Disorderly house charge: Two people were charged by California police with having a disorderly house stemming from separate incidents Friday. Ian Taylor Thomas, 24, of Uniontown, was charged stemming from an incident at ACASIA House, 649 Park St. early Friday. Zachary Brownlee, 21, of Claysville, was charged stemming from an incident Friday night at Theta Xi Fraternity, 728 High St.
Marijuana charge: Chivar D. Brown, 21, of 14 E. Pike St., Houston, will be charged by state police with possession of marijuana after he allegedly was found with the suspected drug during a traffic stop Sunday on West Pike Street at Hutchinson Avenue, Canonsburg.
Trespass, assault charges: Stephen Murphy II, 23, of 1715 Morris St., Washington, was arrested Friday night by Chartiers police on charges of simple assault, criminal trespass and public drunkenness. He is accused of entering the home of Brian and Kim Fisher, 414 Castle Road, without permission. Murphy is accused of pushing her and hitting him. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
Knives found: Christopher John Brown, 18, of 492 Avella Road, Avella, was charged Thursday by Avella School District police with possession of weapons on school property and an equipment violation stemming from a Jan. 5 incident in the school district lot. Police said he had three knives in his vehicle. A headlight on his pickup truck also was missing. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Gary Havelka.
Assault charge: Brennan C. Baggus, 23, of Donegal, was arrested Saturday by Donegal police on charges of simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct after he allegedly assaulted his father at their home at 34 Baggus Road. Michael Baggus told police his son was drinking and inhaling ether. The younger Baggus reportedly became angry when his father disposed of the ether. He left, and when he returned to the house, he was taken into custody after reportedly struggling with officers. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and placed in Washington County jail on $5,000 bond.
Assault on officer alleged: Angelo Zaccone, 65, of 311 E. Pike St., Houston, was arrested early Saturday by Houston police on charges of aggravated assault and resisting arrest after police said he chest-bumped an officer called to his home after he allegedly orally confronted a borough road crew member. After he was told to come down from his house or be cited, Zaccone allegedly got in the officer’s face and bumped him with his chest. Police said he struggled with the officer as he was being taken into custody. He was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and released from Washington County jail after posting $5,000 bond.
One injured: Sarah G. Ackerman, 22, of 459 Hunting Creek Road, North Strabane, was injured Friday morning when her vehicle slid off the 200 block of McDowell Lane and went down an embankment, striking a house and damaging a vehicle parked inside. She was taken to Canonsburg Hospital for treatment.
Vehicle rolls: Alexandra Ciorra, 30, of Pittsburgh, escaped injury Thursday night when her car rolled after she swerved in an attempt to avoid a car driven by Carol Dean, 52, of South Strabane, who stopped for another crash on Berry Road, South Strabane police said.
Handgun stolen: Zachary W. Frankort of Coal Bluff Road, Union, told Southwest Regional police Jan. 18 a black Taurus handgun was stolen from his vehicle. Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call police at 724-929-8484.
Cash stolen: Margaret Ann Ernest of Pumpkin Center Road, Union, told Southwest Regional police Wednesday $15 was stolen from her vehicle earlier that week.
Woman arrested: Kari Nachol McClellan, 35, of 119 Maple Terrace, Washington, was arrested Friday night by Washington police on charges of simple assault and endangering the welfare of children after she allegedly had a large butcher knife during a domestic dispute with Michael Spence, 42, of 1381 S. Hewitt Ave., Canton Township. Police said McClellan was highly intoxicated and was caring for her 3-year-old daughter at the time. McClellan was arraigned before District Judge Gary Havelka and released from Washington County jail after posting $5,000 bond. Spence also was charged with disorderly conduct for reportedly refusing to leave the residence when told to by police.
Drug charges: Taylor Dino, 21, of 15 Ward St., Washington, faces charges including possession of heroin after she allegedly had 66 stamp bags in a plastic bag when taken into custody following the theft of items from Shop ‘n Save, 125 W. Beau St. She also allegedly shoved a Washington police officer.
Drug, theft charges: Jeremy Lee Wojcuich, 29, of 500 W. Wylie Ave., faces charges via summons of two counts of drug possession and one count of retail theft following a Jan. 12 incident at GetGo, 104 E. Wylie Ave., in which he allegedly was caught stealing two candy bars and cinnamon rolls, Washington police said. He also was found with a small amount of marijuana and a glass pipe, police said.
Drug charges: Steven Plance, 37, of 531 Duquesne Ave., Canonsburg, faces charges via summons of two counts of drug possession after Washington police said he was found Sept. 10 at Shop ‘n Save, 125 W. Beau St., with 34 clonazepam tablets and needles.
Window broken: Melissa Olinger of 1255 Allison Ave. told Washington police a window was broken at her home.
Gun stolen: Micha Roddon of 1499 Allison Ave. told Washington police Sunday his AK-47, 10 30-round magazines and a case were stolen from under his couch.
Man charged: Delbert G. Green Jr., 53, was charged Saturday by Washington police with disorderly conduct, public drunkenness and criminal trespass after he allegedly was harassing customers and employees at McDonald’s, 999 Jefferson Ave.
Package stolen: Brett Teter of 173 Church St. told Washington police Friday a package containing Nike shoes he ordered was delivered by the U.S. Postal Service and stolen from a common area in his apartment building.
