Oliver Marks, 10, of Washington, pumps his fist as he sees he placed third in the first round of races for the Webelos category at the 2016 Scout Mall Show and Pinewood Derby event Saturday at Washington Crown Center. Scouts raced their carefully crafted cars all day as well as participated in other interactive activities.

One of the main volunteers at the Pinewood Derby racing event, Tim Richards of Hickory, brought in a car belonging to his brother Buzzy Richards that is roughly 55 years old. The first Pinewood Derby was in 1953 in California.
