Wild Things sign 3
The Wild Things recently signed three players, one with Frontier League experience and another a former player at an area college.
Washington added first baseman Scott Carcaise, who played last season for the Frontier Greys, outfielder Alex Simone, who played last spring for La Roche College, and left-handed pitcher Brandon Hinkle.
Carcaise, a native of Vooerhees, N.J., was drafted by the Miami Marlins in the 14th round in 2013. After playing two years in the Marlins’ system, Carcaise played last summer for the Greys and had a productive campaign. Carcaise played in 94 games, batting .253 with nine home runs and 57 RBI, the latter total ranking 13th in the Frontier League. His 23 doubles ranked 10th.
Simone if from Syracuse, N.Y. He began his college career at West Alabama and transferred to La Roche for his final two seasons. Simone batted .307 and .327 for the Red Hawks. He led the recently completed California Winter League in batting average, hitting .455.
Hinkle is a native of Lancaster and played his college baseball at Delaware . He was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 34th round of the 2014 draft and played two seasons in the Blue Jays’ system. Last year, Hinkle had a 5-1 record and 1.14 ERA in 20 games for Vancouver of the Class A Northwest League.
