Eligible students can apply for CAS internships
Community Action Southwest is partnering with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation to coordinate Work-Based Learning Experiences for high school students 14 to 21 years old with disabilities in Fayette, Greene and Washington counties.
The Work-Based Learning Experiences are essentially internships. Students will gain 90 hours of paid work experience on site with a local employer.
With parental permission, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation staff will meet with students to determine program eligibility. Once eligibility is verified, CAS staff will meet with students to determine their career interests, skills and abilities. Staff will then help students develop résumés and begin connecting them with employers in the community to establish internship sites.
Through these internships, students will be paid an hourly stipend by CAS and gain some work experience to help them succeed in a career upon graduation.
The program is funded through an Innovation and Expansion grant through the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
