Police beat April 18
Fraud attempt: A resident of Midway told McDonald police last week he received a call from Chase Bank’s fraud department saying an attempt was made to open an Amazon account in the name of the borough name. The fraud department was alerted after an incorrect name was entered, police said.
Drug charges: Daniel James Weaver, 29, of Scenery Hill, was charged Thursday by state police with possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. He was found with the suspected marijuana while a passenger during a traffic stop Tuesday at Lindley and Little Daniels Run roads, North Bethlehem.
Cone hits vehicle: Amanda Michelle Niedzialkia, 9471 Noblestown Road, Robinson, told McDonald police Saturday night her vehicle was damaged when it was hit by a traffic cone that she believes came from a truck that passed her residence just after 11 p.m. She told police that her car, which was parked in front of her house, has damage to the front fender on the driver’s side.
Fire truck vandalism: McDonald police were called Tuesday for a report of vandalism to a West Middletown Volunteer Fire Department, Route 844, West Middletown. The fire chief discovered three discharge valves and four other valves open on the department’s pumper truck. Police were told if the valves were open, internal mechanical issues could have been created when the truck was put into service. The chief also told police someone could have been injured because of the high amount of pressure.
