Canonsburg man taken into custody
Life on the lam ended Friday night for a Canonsburg man wanted for almost nine months on a warrant charging him with robbery, burglary and reckless endangerment in connection with a home invasion in the borough in September.
Nathaniel Sele, 20, whose last known address was Valley View Terrace, was taken into custody by Washington police. They notified Canonsburg police and took him to Washington County jail to await arraignment before District Judge Jay Weller on those charges, as well as charges of conspiracy, criminal trespass, aggravated assault, simple assault, receiving stolen property and carrying a firearm without a license.
He and Malik Brown, 18, of Canonsburg, and Robert Austin Jr., 18, of Canton Township, are accused of forcing their way into a home at 250 N. Central Ave., Sept. 16. Austin is awaiting trial on similar charges while Brown, who was 17 at the time, had charges transferred to juvenile court.
The victim told police that she was in the living room of her home when she heard a noise as the front door was being kicked in. One of the three intruders reportedly put a gun to her head and wanted to know her sister’s whereabouts.
One of the suspects told police Sele was the one with the gun and also had been the one to kick in the door.
The victim’s sister and another woman were able to see the three men enter the home on a security camera. One of the woman called 911 just before two of the men entered the home and demanded to know the location of a safe. When no safe was found, police said one of the men took a purse containing $580 and a cellphone. The purse and cellphone were found a few blocks away.
Sele remains in jail on $50,000 bond. He is scheduled for a June preliminary hearing before District Judge David Mark.
