Police beat June 8
Contraband: Natasha Maxcine Celli, 28, of 243 Rices Landing Road, Rices Landing, was charged Friday by state police with prohibited acts for allegedly possessing a controlled substance with intent to deliver and contraband for an incident that happened around 1 p.m. May 27. Police said Celli allegedly tried to throw a package over a Greene County jail fence and into the inmate recreational area. Police said the package was recovered by prison staff and in it was a syringe and five pills suspected to be Subutex. According to court documents, the package was intended for Celli’s boyfriend, Jonathon Balazick, an inmate.
Two-vehicle crash: One person was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash at 2:19 p.m. Saturday on Route 19. State police said a vehicle operated by Kory T. Watson, 22, of Nineveh, traveling south, crossed the center line and collided with a northbound vehicle operated by John R. Mantenuti, 69, of East Millsboro. Mantenuti was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va., where he was in good condition Tuesday, a hospital spokeswoman said. Police said Watson submitted to a blood test to determine if he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
Man charged: Jackie Edward Rutan Jr., 30, whose last known address was 1460 Jefferson Road, was charged by state police Monday with allegedly entering at least 10 vehicles parked on Elizabeth Avenue and Coolspring Street between midnight and 8 a.m. April 28. Police said Rutan stole a number of items, more than $940 and a winning lottery ticket worth $50. Police said Rutan was identified as the person who cashed the winning lottery ticket at a service station in Waynesburg.
Indecent exposure: Justin Antwan Comedy, 25, 3068 Third St., Denbo, was charged by state police with indecent exposure and open lewdness after he allegedly exposed himself to a 33-year-old woman on First Street in Pit Gas at 6:35 p.m. Friday. State police said Comedy pulled over and called the woman to approach his vehicle. The woman told police Comedy was exposed and could be seen touching himself before asking her if she wanted to make some extra money. Police said the victim and a witness were able to get the license number of the vehicle Comedy was driving.
One-car crash: No injuries were reported in a single-vehicle crash at 7:50 p.m. Friday on Interstate 79. State police said a vehicle operated by Zachary Newbrough, 21, of Worthington, W.Va. ran off the road on a curve and struck a guardrail and an embankment.
One injured in crash: One person was injured in a single-vehicle crash at 12:44 a.m. Tuesday on Interstate 79. State police said a vehicle driven by Matthew C. Moore, 24, of Moundsville, W.Va., ran off the road and overturned in the median. Police said Moore suffered major injuries and was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.
