• Announcement: Canon-McMillan School Board announced the results of the First Street Elementary School food drive that was held Jan. 7 through 17.

The food drive resulted in 2,598 non-perishable food items being collected for Canonsburg Food Bank. The second-grade classes collected the most items at 1,447.

• Action: The board accepted the resignation of Brian Muransky as assistant varsity baseball coach; appointed Robert Kleinhans as the principal at Cecil Intermediate School, effective Feb. 20.

The board ired Katherine Gullone as a temporary para-educator at South Central Elementary School, effective March 4 through the end of the school year.

Board members approved the following extra-curricular positions at the contracted rate contingent upon receipt and successful review of all required employment documentation: Eric Schrader, assistant band director, $5,251; Deana Alchier, assistant band director, $5,251; and Katrina Gallagher, assistant varsity softball coach, $2,946.

The board approved 16 students to attend the Technical Student Association State Competition at Seven Springs from April 17 through April 20 at no expense to the district.

Board members approved the varsity and junior varsity baseball teams to travel to the Ripken Complex in Myrtle Beach, S.C., from March 26 to March 31.

The board approved the varsity softball team to travel to Taylorsville, N.C., from March 19 to March 22.

Board members adopted Aug. 26 as the starting date for students for the 2013-14 school year.
