Harry Lester Holmes Jr.
Harry Lester “Cappy” Holmes Jr., 68, a lifelong resident of Washington, died peacefully Tuesday, November 13, 2012, in Washington Hospital, after a brief illness.
He was born September 6, 1944, in Washington, a son of the late Harry “Dutch” Lester Sr. and Violet Majewski Holmes.
Mr. Holmes was a lover of Native American Indian artifacts, antiques, art and gardening.
He was a hard worker, first on river boats and then in the coal mines. After retirement, he joined Cameron Wellness Center, where he frequented many times a week to exercise and meet with his friends.
Mr. Holmes was a graduate of Chartiers-Houston High School and attended West Liberty University. He also was a member of the Keystone Club in Washington.
Surviving are his devoted wife, Jacqueline “Jaci” Holmes; loving children Niki Holmes (Andy Hollinger), Harry “Kip” Holmes III and Nicholas (Ashley) McNamara; his precious granddaughter, Haleigh; a nephew, Cody; a niece, Bethany; and dear friends and family.
He enjoyed the fun times he spent with his family, especially those he shared with his granddaughter.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his first wife, Cecelia Jean Miller.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, November 17, in Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director, with Father Lou Pascazi officiating. Burial will be private.
