The Pennsylvania Prison Chaplains Association Wednesday at a ceremony in Carlisle, Cumberland County, honored the Rev. Frank E. Lewis III, chaplaincy and program director at SCI-Fayette, with its correctional chaplain of the year award.

Lewis, a resident of Greensburg, Westmoreland County, has been chaplain of the state prison in LaBelle, Luzerne Township, since 2006. He coordinates the religious services department for more than 2,000 inmates of many faiths, supervising two full-time chaplains and five contracted chaplains.

Ordained as a minister in the Assemblies of God, Lewis is certified as a chaplain through the Assemblies of God, Chaplaincy Ministries.
