Smith Township police obtained arrest warrants Tuesday for four men allegedly involved in a violent home invasion last year that seriously injured two men.

Anthony Wayne Eddy, 29, of Follansbee, W.Va.; Tyler Blackburn, 27, of Wellsburg, W.Va.; Glenn Albert Stewart, III, 31, of Scio, Ohio, and Douglas Raven Madison, 23, of Weirton, W.Va., all were charged in the July 9, 2015, home invasion at a residence on Harris Street in the village of Joffre.

Police were called to the home just before 3 a.m. The homeowner, a 55-year-old man, and his 46-year-old friend had visible injuries to their heads and chests. The homeowner told Officer Larry Bonazza the doorbell rang, he opened the door and was immediately attacked and hit with what he thought was a crowbar.

The friend said he was asleep in a second-floor bedroom when he heard the commotion and came downstairs into the kitchen. He said he was immediately hit in the head with a crowbar. He got into a fight with one of the intruders. His arms and legs were bound with duct tape.

Three of the intruders threatened to cut off the 46-year-old’s fingers with a knife if they were not told of the location of guns and money. The homeowner told them they could find money in a lockbox in a dresser drawer and a gun in a computer stand.

Police found the crowbar and are still waiting for results of DNA tests.

The homeowner was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh while the friend was taken to Weirton (W.Va.) Medical Center.

Eddy, Blackburn and Stewart all were charged with burglary, robbery, aggravated assault, theft, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, conspiracy and unlawful restraint. Madison was charged with burglary, robbery and conspiracy. Police Chief Bernie LaRue said Wednesday police in West Virginia and Ohio will be alerted about the warrants. The names of the four men also will be placed in the National Crime Information Center.
