Woman injured in Rostraver crash
A 78-year-old woman was injured at about 9 a.m. Monday when the vehicle she was driving went underneath a tractor-trailer on Route 906 near the intersection of Gibson Street in Rostraver Township.
Rostraver police said the tractor-trailer, driven by Timothy Bialowas, 63, of New Castle, was turning around on Route 906 when Leona Indof, of Belle Vernon, who was driving north, failed to stop and drove under the trailer, becoming entrapped. Indof was extricated by Rostraver Central Volunteer Fire Department and taken by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Witnesses told Rostraver police that Bialowas had sight clearance to make the turn. No violations were filed.
Belle Vernon and Webster fire departments and Monessen and state police assisted at the scene.
