Customer catches suspect in Rostraver purse-snatching
BELLE VERNON – A customer at a Walmart in Rostraver Township chased down a suspect in a purse-snatching and held him on the ground until local police arrived there Monday afternoon.
Police arrested Philip Richard Jumbelick, 27, who is homeless, after an officer discovered him on the parking lot pavement being held there by Donald Maglet about 1 p.m. at the store at 100 Sara Way.
Maglet chased after the suspect upon hearing Donna Greenawalt screaming and noticing that she was also chasing after Jumbelick. Another witness, Samuel Spoto, also joined the chase before Jumbelick dropped the purse and laid down upon noticing he was about to be caught, police state in the affidavit.
Greenawalt told police Jumbelick pulled her purse from her arm while she was loading groceries into her vehicle.
Jumbelick is charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property. He is in Westmoreland County jail on $50,000 bond set by District Judge Joseph Dalfonso.
