While cleaning out his parents’ attic, Carleton Young discovered a large collection of letters written by two soldiers during the Civil War.

After spending about five years transcribing the letters with the help of friends, the retired history teacher compiled their stories into a book, “Voices from the Attic: The Williamstown Boys in the Civil War.”

Young will discuss the book and his efforts to retrace the steps of the two brothers, based on their letters home, as they fought in the Civil War at 7 p.m. Dec. 1 at Peters Township Public Library.

Registration is required by emailing programs@ptlibrary.org or calling 724-941-9430, ext. 1. A book signing will follow the presentation.
