Give Trump a chance
In response to the Nov. 10 editorial, “Trump wins,” perhaps in this case “no news is good news.”
Donald Trump had been the president-elect for less than 48 hours and this was written. Whoever the “we” in the brief write-up refers to, I would have thought somebody in that “we” would have more of an opinion. My mom used to say, “If you don’t have something good to say, then say nothing at all.”
I admit, it was better seeing a blank page than one filled with words of bias that would continue to divide us as a nation. Let’s give the man a chance. And let’s remember, the president is not a dictator. He is only able to do his job within the system of checks and balances so aptly set up by our forefathers.
Trump’s positions are only as strong as those who sit in Congress and on the Supreme Court. He cannot change law with a simple stroke of his pen, although other presidents have tried. Our current commander-in-chief, Barack Obama, has pledged to make this a smooth transition. Can we follow his lead rather than printing – or not printing – things that are divisive? What happened to balanced reporting? I haven’t seen much of it the last 18 months.
