West Greene Lions name top students
The West Greene Lions Club recently recognized three West Greene High School students as outstanding students. They are Emily Goodwin, Desiree Tedrow and Emily Tedrow.
Goodwin, daughter of David and Michelle Goodwin of Sycamore, is an “A” student, treasurer of the National Honor Society and a member of the art club, prom committee and ski club.
She also participates in the peer mentoring program, varsity volleyball and softball.
Goodwin was named a student athlete of the year and was a nominee for Pittsburgh Positive Athlete. She plans to attend college and major in economics and minor in public relations.
Desiree Tedrow, daughter of Gary and Diane Tedrow of New Freeport, is a member of the National Honor Society and the marching, concert and jazz bands. She has been a drum major with the marching band the last two years.
Desiree also has participated in the all-county band and choir, and is a member of the concert choir and the Waynesburg University Symphonic Band.
She participates in Girl Scouts, is a tutor at Bowlby Public Library and is a member of Rogersville Christian Church. She plans to attend college and major in music education.
Emily Tedrow, daughter of Sonny and Shirley McDiffitt of New Freeport and Chad Tedrow of New Freeport, is a member of the National Honor Society, yearbook club and prom committee, and was a prom court attendant.
She has participated in varsity volleyball for four years. She was a member of the WPIAL Class A Section 5 All-Section team her junior year and was a 2015-16 offensive player of the year.
Emily also plays basketball and was recognized as the 2014-15 most improved player.
She is a Girl Scout and has earned both bronze and silver awards. She has served more than 100 hours of community service at the Greene County Humane Society and Save-A-Horse Stables. She was a torch runner for Relay for Life in 2014.
Emily plans to attend Waynesburg University and major in nursing.
