Sites set for PIAA soccer, volleyball
It’s time to gas up the buses for the Canon-McMillan girls soccer and Fort Cherry girls volleyball teams. The Big Macs and Rangers will have long road trips for the first round of the PIAA playoffs that begin Tuesday night in each sport.
Canon-McMillan (18-1-1), the WPIAL runner-up after a loss Saturday to Norwin in the finals, will play Erie McDowell (11-4) in the Class AAAA playoffs at Veterans Stadium in Erie. Kickoff is 3 p.m.
Erie McDowell defeated State College, 1-0, Saturday in a subregional match.
Fort Cherry (18-2), which is in the PIAA volleyball playoffs for the first time in school history, will play Coudersport (20-2), the District 9 champion, at DuBois High School. The match is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
Fort Cherry qualified for the state tournament Saturday by defeating Frazier in four games in the WPIAL’s third-place game.
