Three sentenced in Greene County Court

Three criminal defendants pleaded guilty and were sentenced this week by Greene County Judge Lou Dayich.

Charles Ronald Cramer Jr., 60, of 605 Angie Lane, Indiana; offenses – terroristic threats, harassment, driving under the influence of alcohol, two summary traffic violations; charges of simple assault and fleeing or attempting to elude police were withdrawn; on April 15, Cramer kicked at the door of a house on Fairview Drive in Franklin Township and threatened the woman inside; he fled in his truck and initially failed to stop for police; he had an assault rifle and two loaded magazines in the vehicle and refused a blood-alcohol test; sentence – time served from May 5 through Aug. 3, 2016, to 5 years in jail; $1,000 in fines.

Charles Ferree Whipkey, 55, of 203 Hilltop Court, Nemacolin; offenses – driving under the influence, second and subsequent DUI offense in 10 years; three summary traffic violations; arrested April 1, Whipkey had a blood-alcohol content of 0.310 percent; sentence – 1 to 5 years in prison; deemed eligible for the Recidivism Risk Reduction Incentive program, his minimum could be reduced to 9 months; $1,500 in fines.

Steven Edward Hawk, 22, of 324 Monongahela Ave., Westover, W.Va.; offenses – one count of possession of a controlled substance and four counts of possession of drug paraphernalia; arrested March 28, 2014, he was in possession of a Suboxone strip, two needles, a spoon and other drug paraphernalia; arrested Aug. 22, 2016, he was in possession of three syringes; sentence – 2 years of probation, 100 hours of community service.
