Outreach to hold toy giveaway
Applications are being accepted for holiday food and toys at Washington Christian Outreach.
Eligible participants can register from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday at the outreach, 119 Highland Ave. Proof of income and residency, Social Security card and photo identification are required. Applications will be accepted until Dec. 13.
Toy distribution will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 12-14. Food boxes will be distributed Dec. 17.
Jeanne Allender, president of Washington Christian Outreach, said each child will receive from four to six toys, up considerably from the one the each family received when Allender started the toy distribution.
Teenagers aren’t forgotten, either. They will receive at least socks and a sweatshirt, thanks to generous donations from the community.
“We have never had to beg for anything,” Allender said.
In addition to the toys, Allender said 350 food boxes will be distributed.
