Peters Township beats Bethel Park in 2OT
Makenna Marissa scored 20 points and Peters Township made four of five free throws in the second overtime as Peters Township held off Bethel Park, 57-50, in a Section 3-6A high school girls basketball game Monday night.
Cameron Lach had 23 points for Bethel Park (0-1, 6-3), including 21 on three-pointers, but did not score in overtime as Isabella Mills shut her down in the extra periods.
Lillian Young added 12 points and Alyssa Konopka had 10 for the Indians (1-0, 6-3).
Madeline Dziezgowski added 10 points for Bethel Park.
Greensburg Central Catholic 61, California 36: Brittany Stawovy scored 21 points and Greensburg Central Catholic jumped out to a 15-2 lead to hand California its first loss of the season in a 61-36 Section 3-AA victory.
Haley Moore added 19 points for Greensburg Central Catholic (3-0, 5-3).
Dominque Gaston led California (2-1, 9-1) with 11 points.
Geibel Catholic 55, Mapletown 36: Gillian Yourish scored 22 points as Geibel Catholic defeated Mapletown, 55-36, in the Section 2-A openers for both teams.
Grace Nowicki added 16 points and Babby Yourish added 13 for the Gators (1-0, 4-4).
Kayla Smith had 13 points and 12 rebounds for Mapletown (0-1, 3-7), while Hannah Dingle added 11 points and Kelsi Smith had 10 rebounds.
