Pa. casinos report record revenue in 2016

HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania casinos are reporting record revenue totaling more than $3.2 billion last year.

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board said the figure is 1.25 percent higher than the $3.17 billion in gross revenue recorded in 2015.

Officials said slot machine revenue was slightly down last year from the year before, but revenue from table games reached a record high.

The board said it also marked the sixth straight calendar year in which total casino revenue topped $3 billion.

According to PGCB, gross revenue of $853,238,055 from table games play at the state’s 12 casions in 2016 was 5.6 percent higher than revenue in 2015.

Locally, The Meadows Casino saw its table games revenue move up slightly last year, posting a 0.45 percent increase to $31,406,093 from the $31,265,464 it collected in 2015. Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino experienced a 3.2 percent decline year-over-year, from $71,37,669 in 2015 to $69,104,326, while Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin in Farmington saw a 12.24 percent decline, falling from $5,303,685 to $4,654,778.

The PGCB also released December table games results Tuesday.

The Meadows saw a 14.21 percent increase, moving from $2,590,665 in December 2015 to $2,958,673 last month. Rivers Casino was up 2.3 percent, from $6,022,369 to 6,162,798, while Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin fell 36.52 percent from $395,614 to $251,154.
