Two plead guilty to charges in Greene County Court
WAYNESBURG – Two people who appeared in court Wednesday for jury selection decided instead to plead guilty to charges against them and accept plea agreements offered by prosecutors. Pleading guilty before Greene County President Judge Farley Toothman were:
Zachary Taylor Stevens, 23, of Fairmont, W.Va.; offense – criminal mischief; on Dec. 7, 2014, Stevens punched holes in the oil filter of the truck he was driving, owned by his employer, Fairmont Tool Co., at the BP Station on Route 21 in Franklin Township. He then reported the vehicle disabled; his activities were captured by a surveillance camera at the service station; sentence – 5 years of probation; $1,000 in restitution; Stevens can be released from probation after three years provided he pays restitution in full and has no further violations.
Klynton Heath Walker, 33, of 2118 Garards Fort Road, Waynesburg; offenses – driving under the influence of alcohol, second DUI offense in 10 years; 17 summary traffic violations; a charge of fleeing or attempting to elude police was withdrawn; on Feb. 1, Walker fled police on an all-terrain vehicle when they attempted to stop him on High Street in Waynesburg; he was arrested after running into a ditch off Sugar Run Road; his blood-alcohol content was 0.15 percent; sentence – 30 days to 6 months in jail; $2,075 in fines; 150 hours of community service.
