Allegheny Passage fundraiser set
The Westmoreland Yough Trail Chapter of the Regional Trail Corp. will hold its sixth annual 5k/10k-run and 2-mile fun walk May 13, beginning at the Arthur H. King access area of the Great Allegheny Passage in West Newton.
Proceeds from the event will be used by trail volunteers to maintain, preserve and enhance the Westmoreland County section of the Great Allegheny Passage.
The run will proceed south on the trail out and back. The 10k-run will begin at 9 a.m., and the 5k-run will start at 9:05. The fun walk will begin at 9 a.m. and proceed north on the Yough River Trail out and back.
Medals will be awarded to overall male and female runners in the 5k- and 10k-run and to the top three male and female age-group participants of those events. Medals also will be given to all run and walk participants 10 and younger and to the oldest and youngest participants of the fun walk.

Entry forms also are available at the Regional Trail Corp. office in West Newton, from bulletin boards along the trail and supporting businesses in the region and on the WYTC website, www.bikewytc.org.
Cost for those who register in advance is as follows: $20 for the 5k- or 10k-run; $15 for the fun walk; and $10 for children 10 and younger. On race day, fees are $25 for the runs and $20 for the fun walk. Children’s prices remain the same.
Those who register by April 13 will receive a T-shirt. There are no refunds.
