WPIAL sets sites for some quarterfinal games
The WPIAL released the pairings for its quarterfinal high school basketball playoff games and it includes a doubleheader for Washington’s boys and girls teams.
The Washington girls, 45-27 winners over Beth-Center Friday night in a Class AA game, will face second-seeded Vincentian at 6 p.m. Thursday at West Allegheny High School.
The second-seeded Washington boys will play Aliquippa at 8 p.m. at the same site. Washington defeated Ellwood City, 57-29, in its opening game, while the Quips beat Charleroi, 70-51.
In another Class AA girls game, top-seeded Chartiers-Houston will face Leechburg, a 66-38 winner over Burgettstown, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Northgate High School. The Bucs had an opening-round bye.
Meanwhile, the California girls, who defeated Sto-Rox, 33-30, in their opening-round Class AA game, will play fourth-seeded Our Lady of Sacred Heart at 6:30 p.m. at Canon-McMillan High School Thursday. OLSH had a first-round bye.
Monessen, the top seed in the Class A boys playoffs, will be the second part of the doubleheader at Canon-McMillan. The Greyhounds, who had a first-round bye, will play Eden Christian, a 46-35 winner over West Greene in the opening round.
