Town Park’s Pickleball group will soon be playing the sport for a good cause – the Canonsburg Armory. The Canonsburg Pickleball Group is planning a fundraiser to help the Armory Youth Center.

Pickleball for a Cause will take place 12:30-6:30 p.m. March 18 at the Armory. Admission is $5 for students and $10 for adults. Beginning at 12:30, players may reserve courts for one and a half hours. Instructional sessions will also be offered during that time. Groups of four or six are encouraged for the session, but single players are welcome as well.

“During a break from Pickleball, we toured the Armory Youth Center. It was enlightening in many ways. We learned that one of the needs of the facility is a kitchen where students can get nourishment as they participate in physical or academic activities. For this reason, the Town Park Pickleball Group is helping to raise money for this much-needed kitchen. Our community is very fortunate to have a facility that provides services for our youth,” Doug McKenery says. “The Canonsburg Armory Youth Center provides a safe environment for all children. Under the guidance of good role models, the children can grow physically, socially and academically. Belonging and feeling safe are important to help students navigate through adolescence.”

To reserve a court, contact McKenery at 724-746-3154 or Stan Hall at 724-746-2060. McKenery notes that even those not interested in playing pickleball may visit the armory for tours from 1-4 p.m.
