At the request of the planning commission, the board approved recreation-related projects: a $3,340 addition, to be reimbursed by a grant from state taxpayers, to the agreement with Pashek Associates of Pittsburgh, landscape architects and community planners, for design and consulting work related to obtaining permits for the Monongahela River kayak launches, and approval to seek bids that would result in paving the final eight miles of the Panhandle Trail from Francis Mine, near Burgettstown, to the West Virginia border. The county also renewed its contract with GAI Consultants Inc. to inspect 10 flood-control dams through 2021 at a total cost of $39,800.

The planning commission also received permission to enter into an easement agreement and pay $6,043 to West Penn Power Co. to relocate a utility pole at the fairgrounds required for changes being made to the trolley-stop entrance. The costs will be paid from the lease to extract natural gas from beneath the fairgrounds.
