Legislators coming to Donora to discuss state’s drug epidemic
State legislators will be in Donora this morning to gather testimony about the state’s drug epidemic and how it is affecting local communities.
Those who plan to testify will offer suggestions on legislative actions that can be taken to better tackle the epidemic and discuss how data collection on drug use, blight and economic development can be used to address the growing crisis.
The group will include state police Capt. David Heckman, Washington County Commissioner Diana Irey Vaughan, Bethlehem-Center School District Superintendent Linda Marcolini, Washington County Judge John DiSalle, Theodore Davi of Gambit Interactive, Michael Cipoletti of Waynesburg University and William Josko of IBM.
The hearing, led by state Rep. Committee Kerry Benninghoff, R-Centre, chair of the House Majority Policy, and state Rep. Bud Cook, R-West Pike Run, will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the Donora Municipal Building at 603 McKean Ave. The hearing will be live-streamed online.
