Arrest made in robbery attempt at Dairy Queen
A Washington man was jailed Thursday after he was arrested in connection with an alleged robbery attempt at the Dairy Queen in Washington.
Isaiah E. Calloway, 25, of 108 ½ E. Wylie Ave., faces charges of robbery, terroristic threats and harassment filed by city police.
Police said they were dispatched to Washington Financial Bank, 99 E. Wylie Ave., on May 9 for a report a man dressed in a hooded sweatshirt and sunglasses was suspiciously circling the building. Bank employees placed the business on lockdown before the man – later identified from surveillance footage as Calloway – could come in.
Before police arrived, they received a second report of an incident at the Dairy Queen across the street.
A manager told officers the man entered the store and allegedly “demanded $300 or he was going to jump over the counter,” Officer Kent Mitchell wrote in court papers.
Calloway allegedly fled on foot before he was able to get any money.
Calloway was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
