Peters Township falls to Mt. Lebanon
MT. LEBANON – Mt. Lebanon only had four girls score, but they scored at the right time as the Blue Devils handed Peters Township a 55-41 defeat in a battle for first place in Section 3-6A Thursday night in a high school girls basketball game.
Jamey Napoleon only had six points for the Blue Devils (8-1, 15-5) but scored them all in the third quarter when the Blue Devils erased a 19-17 halftime lead by Peters Township with a 21-13 advantage.
Mt. Lebanon led 9-8 after one quarter, only to see the Indians take the lead after two quarters. But the Blue Devils turned up their defensive pressure in the second half, leading to some easy baskets and a 38-22 advantage in the final two quarters.
Kate Sramac led the Blue Devils with 19 points, while Alyssa Hyland had 17 and Kenzie Bushee added 13.
Makenna Marissa scored 18 points to lead Peters Township (7-2, 12-5), while Lillian Young added nine points in the losing effort.
The Indians have just one section game remaining, a key showdown with fourth-place Canon-McMillan next Thursday.
Mt. Lebanon is at last-place Upper St. Clair (0-9, 2-17) next Monday in its section finale.
