Frank Sarris Public Library gets new glass doorway
CANONSBURG – It’s been said that books open doors to new worlds.
Frank Sarris Public Library opened new doors to books Friday.
The library held a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of a new set of doors that will serve as the main entrance to the two-story building.
The new glass doorway provides access to the library from the parking lot on Murdock Avenue.
Before the new entrance opened, patrons had to walk around the building from the library lot or a borough parking lot to the entrance on Jefferson Avenue, which is now an emergency exit.
Funds for the project were donated by the Sarris family.
Frank Sarris Public Library is named for the late Sarris Candies founder, who was a benefactor for the library, which opened in 2011.
“It’s been a long time coming,” said library director Peggy Tseng, who thanked the Sarris family and the library board. “This is a celebration of a milestone that was in the process for a long time.”
