Chili Cook-off benefits Domestic Violence Services
A Chili Cook-Off recently held to benefit Domestic Violence Services of Southwestern Pennsylvania raised $2,926.
The event was held at Lone Pine Country Club, and was organized by members Michele Rose, Peggy Thornburg, Leah Billie, the Ladies’ Golf Association and Frank Dobbin and the Bandits, who secured donations and an array of baskets for the Chinese auction.
In addition to the money raised, household items also were donated for distribution to Domestic Violence Services.
Tom Notaro was crowned the chili champion, with Matt Falosk earning first-runnerup honors and Scott Armstrong named second runnerup.
Other chili contestants were Phil Armstrong, Rebecca Burig, Denise Champe, Nina Liebig, Susan Price, Paul O’Boyle, Shirley Runco, Gary Thornburg, Cory Ward and Charlie Williamson.
Food was donated by Albano’s Wholesale Produce, C.A. Curtze Co., Reinhart Food Service and US Foods Inc., so all proceeds from the food sales could be donated to Domestic Violence Services.
The Ladies Golf Association is still collecting household items, such as stamps, card stock paper, yellow pocket folders, DVD sleeves, latex gloves, pocket umbrellas, Mr. Clean erasers, Nyquil, Tylenol/Advil PM and other dryer sheets.
