Clarksville Lions Club honors J-M student

Clarksville Lions Club has selected Eva Humphreys as its Student of the Month for January.

Humphreys, daughter of Shane Humphreys of Connellsville and Erin Smith of Clarksville, maintains a 3.67 grade-point average at Jefferson-Morgan High School.

She is a member of the marching band, pep band and concert band, and participates in library club, reading team, debate team and drama club.

As a member of National Honor Society, Humphreys volunteered at the Humane Society of Greene County, filed paperwork for the Borough of Clarksville, collected pill bottles for recycling for the Malawi Project and kept score for little league baseball teams. This year, Humphreys is chairwoman of the backpack program, coordinating student volunteers and facilitating the packing process for the weekend food program.

Humphreys participated in the Washington Youth Summit on the Environment, and is an active member of Envirothon, Science Olympiad and Upward Bound.

In the fall, Humphreys may join AmeriCorps. She is employed by Giant Eagle.
