‘Puppy’ is looking for a name and a home
The terrier mix known as “Puppy” deserves a name. And a home.
“Puppy” is the miracle dog who was found Feb. 3 in Bentleyville with a metal rod lodged in his head. He was taken to University Veterinary Specialists, where it was determined that the 5-inch rod passed through one eye, the socket of the other and the brain.
UVS doctors successfully removed the rod the next day. They initially thought the 14-week-old pooch would have vision in one eye, but were uncertain of the other. “Puppy” can now see out of both and is in good health.
It was determined that the abuse occurred out of state. While investigators look into that, “Puppy” continues to recover at the emergency animal hospital in Peters Township. Staffers there gave him that name and continue to give him love, and even thought of keeping him as a mascot. They won’t. Now “Puppy” needs a real name and a permanent home.
The process to provide him with both is underway. University Veterinary Specialists is accepting applications to adopt the terrier mix through its UVS Cares Foundation, which is still accepting donations. The application is on the University Veterinary website and can be submitted online.
This pup has survived an unspeakably cruel experience from an unspeakably cruel individual or group. He deserves as much love and devotion as he will provide in return. And, despite his cute moniker, he deserves a real name.
