A time for peace
As we begin 2017, it is hard to forget what the Borough of Canonsburg has had to bear. Several recent police emergencies have resulted in much anxiety, sadness and confusion for our community and the surrounding area.
Though we have endured much strife over the past few months, even resulting in the tragic loss of life, we have also witnessed the very best in the spirit of the people of our community, selflessly giving of themselves, especially members of our law enforcement personnel and first responders.
As we go forward, we are initiating a new effort in the Borough of Canonsburg by making a time of reflection, giving and good will towards others. Hopefully this will give us confidence and will help to direct our eyes forward, as we remember the events of the past few months. We are beginning the “A Time for Peace” initiative, designed to capture the best feelings in all of us today and well into this year and beyond.
Through this simple slogan, “A Time for Peace,” we will stress the importance of respect for one another and a necessary way of life for all of us to lead.
In the coming weeks, we are asking all of you to demonstrate the many facets of this theme and to help them be played out in our community and among its residents.
With the memory of Officer Scott Bashioum, Dalia E. Sabae and son Antonio still fresh in everyone’s mind, it remains vitally important for all of us to remember that peace and love can conquer all things, and that it becomes our duty to spread this message to everyone we meet.
This year, let us refocus our attention on the many blessings we share in our families, in our communities and in our nation. God Bless and keep us all!
