Too many commercials

Have you ever embarked on a pleasure-filled evening of watching television?

Not lately.

It doesn’t matter what you want to watch. You are going to be bludgeoned over the head with the most senseless and moronic commercials no one smarter than a garden hose could endure.

I’m sure all of us can relate to wearing out the mute button on our remote control. It’s quite obvious that television has become one big commercial and nothing more. A program is now just a few minutes long and is interrupted by a barrage of brainless commercials demanding that you buy everything from miracle products and pills to pizza. Then there are lunatics screaming at you to buy a mattress before the end of the world.

Seriously now, is this something that kids and adults should have pounded in their heads? This really isn’t about being thin-skinned when it comes to tolerating complete ignorance and insanity. It’s about speaking up for the principles of sanity and reserve.

We can credit the exposure to TV commercials to the degradation of people’s mental health and values. It’s just junk food for the mind. We pay for this service and we deserve better.
